Dear colleagues and partners in healthcare

In light of events unfolding with the outbreak of COVID-19 in South Africa, where the source of the virus is predominantly traceable to international travel, it is only a matter of time before the impact of this global pandemic is felt by each of us and those we care about.

The most important issue for us as a Society is to ensure the health and safety of our members, healthcare partners and other stakeholders – and as such the SNSA executive have taken the difficult decision to cancel the SNSA 2020 Congress planned for August, which was also due to be our 50th anniversary celebration.

Nothing can replace the value of spending time together at these annual events, especially with such a significant milestone to celebrate, and we are committed to revisiting the planning for another meeting as soon as it is safe to do so.

On behalf of the Society’s leadership, I wish to take this opportunity to apologise to our members and stakeholders in the healthcare industry who have already begun the extensive planning work required to ensure the success of our events.

SNSA will honour its agreements in place with our suppliers, ensure that our loyal supporters are dealt with fairly and commit to keeping all of you updated as decisions are made in this rapidly evolving and unpredictable situation.

The healthcare sector is facing unprecedented challenges worldwide but I am confident we will stand together in dealing with this crisis.

Please stay safe and stay healthy.

Warm regards
